Matt Firor, Game Director for ESO, announced that Elder Scrolls Online will be released for PC and Mac on April 4th, 2014 (4.4.2014). Console versions of the game will be released later – in June. The exact date of the console release is still unknown.
The delay between releases for PC/Mac and PS4/Xbox One will be about 2 months. Mat Firor said that it’s because the game is really popular in the world and simultaneous release may overload many game services. Don’t forget that the game itself is only about 50% of what ESO is. There are many other parts that the players don’t see, like the support department and technical department. The same day release for all platforms may overload the services and disrupt their ability to aid people. ZeniMax want to provide players with a smooth gameplay experience and want players to enjoy the game. On the one hand, a later console release date isn’t great, but on the other hand, PS4 and Xbox One owners receive a guarantee that everything will be OK. PC and Mac release will allow ZeniMax to prepare and ensure the console release is successful.
The release of the game is universal. Allowing players from all over the world to start playing ESO on the same day.
It is possible to make a pre-order with release-day delivery. This great option will ensure you get the game right after the release.
The press release also contains some very interesting numbers: About 4 million gamers signed up for Beta and the number is still growing. More than 300,000 people took part in the latest stress test.
The beta testing will be continued. ZeniMax will continue sending Beta invites and the number of invites will be increased. Matt Firor explained that “just about every one of you who have signed up for beta will get an invitation to play sometime between now and the weeks before launch.” That’s great news. A lot of ESO fans are still waiting for a Beta invite and it seems they will finally receive it.
